Sherri and recently purchased a 2006 VW Jetta GLI. I have always been a fan of Jettas, though I much prefer the MKIVs. I previously owned a 2001 GLX, but in a moment of weakness, traded it for a 2004 Dodge Ram. While I've still got the truck, Sherri and I decided that it was time for her to drive something newer and safer than her '97 Cavalier.

She had her heart set on a TDI, though with them not being manufactured in the '07 year model (due to a motor retooling), dealers were charging some mad markup on them. To the tune of about $2-3K more. Me being the cheap bastard I am (it's all relative) wouldn't let my wonderful wife be ripped off.
Since I was planning on buying new next year, we expedited that process and bought the GLI I wanted (2.0T power baybee). We will procure an '08 TDI for her in about a year. The top is what the car currently looks like. Below is what it will look like when I get custody of it in a year ;)
Now, you may be wondering why we needed a four door car (probably not). Well, we're going to be parents! We found out about a month ago and she's about 10 weeks along. We are very excited and so are our families.
We're leaving on Wed. for our 10 day New England vacation. It's a photography trip for me as well as a vacation for both of us, so look for pictures in a couple of weeks. I'll post up when we get back and let everyone know how it goes.
